The Universitat Jaume I de Castellón is a public university that was created in 1991 and has just over 13,000 students. We highlight its modern facilities on a single campus located in a peaceful city next to the Mediterranean Sea.

    WHERE?

    CASTELLON DE LA PLANA

    Castellón de la Plana is located in the east of Spain, on the Mediterranean Sea, i.e., it is 60 km north of Valencia and 280 km south of Barcelona. Some pictures of the campus and the city can be found here.

    WHEN?

    June 9th (afternoon) to June 12th (noon) , 2026.

    The weather in Castellón de la Plana is very smooth throughout the year. Notwithstanding that, we propose early/mid June or early/mid September as the perfect time to organize this conference.

  • 03.

    WHY?

    The weather is usually shiny and smooth the whole year. The proximity to the Sea prevents very high temperatures. The region is well-known for the wide variety and high quality of its gastronomy, based on seafood and ''paella".

  • Take the metro (red line L3) from Valencia Airport to Xàtiva station (20 minutes), walk to Valencia Nord train station, and from there take a train to Castelló, (60 minutes).

    The trains running from Valencia to Castellón are local commuter services, and tickets do not need to be purchased in advance. You can simply buy them upon arrival at Valencia’s Estació del Nord (central Railway Station), either at the ticket machines or at the ticket counter.

    If you have prebooked your train from Barcelona Sants to Castelló, the train from Barcelona Aiport to Barcelona Sants will be for free. It is called "Combinado cercanías", you will find a code on the train ticket and introduce this code in the machine (https://rodalies.gencat.cat/en/nou-bitllets-combinats/combinadocercanias-ave-larga-distancia-rodalia/index.html).

  • Alternatively, a direct bus from Barcelona Airport to Castelló de la Plana train station (5h and 30 minutes) www.alsa.es/aeropuertos/barcelona-el-prat .

Prof. Ellen Peters is a leading figure in the science of judgment and decision making whose work has reshaped understanding of how people process numbers, emotions, and evidence. Her research integrates psychology, communication science, and public policy to reveal how numeracy and affect influence decisions in health, finance, and other real world domains. Through influential publications, major research grants, and leadership roles across national and international collaborations, she has been central in advancing evidence based science communication and demonstrating how clear, effective messaging can improve public understanding and decision quality. Professor of Neuroimaging and Model Based Cognitive Neuroscience, University of Amsterdam

Prof. Birte Forstmann is a leading figure in cognitive neuroscience whose work has significantly advanced our understanding of the neural foundations of decision making and cognitive control. Her research combines mathematical modeling with cutting edge neuroimaging methods to reveal how brain structure and function shape individual differences in behavior. The session proposals can be submitted by groups of researchers, policymakers and/or nudge units. Please submit your session proposal for 4 presentations, including the proposed title of the session and a short overview of its aim and contents (max 200 words), to jagarcia(@)uji.es (remember, the deadline is February 22, 2026).

BEST STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION

We encourage students (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, and PhD) to participate in the IAREP/Elsevier Best Student Paper Competition 2026!


The Best Student Paper Competition is a highlight of each IAREP conference. Elsevier, the publisher of the Journal of Economic Psychology, sponsors the competition.


The winner of the Elsevier/IAREP Best Student Paper Competition 2026 receives 1,000 Euros and a year’s electronic subscription to the Journal of Economic Psychology. The second and third place winners will receive a year’s electronic subscription to the journal. The winners will be honored at the conference, will receive a certificate, and will be listed in the association’s newsletters. A committee of IAREP members will evaluate the submitted papers.


  • The criteria are:


  • (A)
    The interest of the paper topic for economic psychology and/or behavioral economics;

  • (B)
    Quality of research;

  • (C)
    Quality of writing;

  • (D)
    Contribution of the student to the paper.
    (The student has to be the first/corresponding author, and their presentation has to be accepted for and presented during the conference)
